James Franco Gets Close And Personal To The Porn Industry

When it comes to Hollywood actors, you find there are some who work hard, some who work very hard, and then there’s James Franco. Renowned for being Hollywood’s hardest working star, I get dizzy just reading about his many projects.

So far this year he has been nominated for an Oscar for his performance in 127 Hours - as well as hosting the show – had lead roles in Your Highness and Broken Tower (which he also wrote, produced and directed) and today released his latest blockbuster Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Not only that but he also has The Iceman, Sal (which he also wrote and directed), and Maladies in post-production to be released later this year and is already filming Cherry and Oz: The Great And Powerful. Plus, don’t forget his recurring role in the cheesy American soap opera General Hospital.

And between acting and directing, he’s also found time for a number of increasingly strange projects. He has published a collection of short stories called Palo Alto: Stories by Franco, made his theatre directing debut, recorded an album, put together an art exhibition, simultaneously studied a number of university courses and taught at NYU and Yale. And I have probably missed some of his accolades out. I was just starting to believe that he is actually just a very attractive machine when he revealed his obsession with porn. Yes, he’s definitely a man!

While appearing on Conan O’Brien’s chatshow earlier this week, he revealed plans for his next project…no he’s not making a porno you perve. He is making a porn documentary. At present there isn’t much information, but he has stated that it will focus on an adult film studio in San Francisco. “There’s this amazing facility in San Francisco. They do everything in-house, they build their props in-house. It’s an incredible place.”

He also revealed that his interest in porn led to failed attempts at amateur porn. “When I was young I got a video camera and my girlfriend and I decided to film ourselves. [We] watched it back and said: ‘Yeah, well, let’s never watch it again.’” He went on to praise the professionalism of actors in the adult entertainment industry, stating: “They’re not just doing it, they’re selling it to the audience. They’re performing so that an audience get turned on by that kind of thing. My girlfriend and I didn’t know that, so it was just kind of like weird movement. It was really boring.”

Is James Franco the most intriguing man in Hollywood? What is he going to do next?
