Community: My New Lifes Mission

It disappoints me greatly that the brilliance that is NBC's Community has been humiliatingly reduced to being shown on Viva, the channel nobody watches / has heard of (it's like Gilmore Girls all over again when I seemed to be the only one watching it on Hallmark. Although now everybody seems to watch it and I want my programme back E4). I am therefore making it my mission in life to get everybody in the UK watching this masterpiece.

Time for the longest promo ever:

In case that wasn't enough to entice you, here are 10 reasons you will love Community:

1) Cast

If I could, I would make each character a separate reason to watch Community but that would be far more than 10 reasons.

The star of the show is presenter of The Soup, Joel McHale (a funny version of Ryan Seacrest). While he is very funny, I think a picture of his surprisingly muscular body will encourage you to watch more:

The show also stars Chevy Chase in his first funny role since the 80s... actually his funniest role ever. He plays the older, politically incorrect, offensive member of the study group.

Then there is Danny Pudi and Donald Glover aka Troy and Abed, the greatest comedy duo since Bert and Ernie. I can't actually put into words how brilliant their chemistry is - "Get out of my brain".

Then there is the beautiful and talented Alison Brie from Mad Men, showing that she can do sitcoms just as well. It is weird that she's playing an 18 year old but I'll forgive that because she's awesome:

There's also that crazy Chinese dude from practically every comedy film in the last few years, including The Hangover and Role Models, living up to his crazy reputation.

The rest of the cast, which includes Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash and John Oliver, are great too but I should probably move on to reason number 2.

2) The end credits

The scenes that play over the end credits every week are truly the funniest sketches I have ever seen and give you a fresh dollop of Troy and Abed every week to get you through till the next episode:

3) The pop culture references

So everybody likes The Simpsons and Family Guy film references right? Well Community's are so much better. Not only does Community make great pop culture references throughout each episode, but often entire episodes are one big pop culture reference. My favourites have been Apollo 13, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Aliens, Batman, zombie films and every action film ever made.

4) Time Magazine says so

Speaking of film references, 'Modern Warfare' - an episode based on every action film ever made - was named the third best television episode of 2010 by a lil magazine called Time. And so that proves it is awesome!

5) Guest Appearances

They are only into their second season and have already had guest spots from the likes of Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Hilary Duff and Betty White. A cast as strong as this doesn't really need guest appearances but I can understand why celebrities are lining up to jump on the C-Train.

6) Stop motion episode

They seriously managed to produce an amazing stop motion episode without it seeming out of place with the rest of the series. Only Community could manage that.

(Troy and Abed in stop mooootion)

7) Laugh out loud funny

Every week they manage to make me laugh out loud / giggle like a schoolgirl for the full 21 minutes of the show, plus for about 20 minutes afterwards when I rewatch clips on Youtube (God Bless the internet).

8) Hidden Levels

It gets better with every viewing. The multiple layers of the show mean you spot something new every time you watch it, whether it is great reactions from the cast or a whole story. Check out Abed's subplot in the background of these scenes.

9) The conspiracy theories

You find yourself constantly wondering whether everything you're watching is actually in Abed's head, with his constant movie references and narrations. (Screw you Matrix. You don't have to be pretentious and boring to question reality)

10) And finally, Joel McHale's body

I know I already mentioned it but seriously, who knew he was packing that:
