The Other Olsen Sister - Mary-Kate And Ashley's Younger Sister Elizabeth Is A Huge Success At Sundance

So we all know the alcohol guzzling, food avoiding, beautiful, business geniuses (I'm not being sarcastic) icons of my generation: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. But turns out they have a talented baby sister too and she has taken Sundance by storm.

Elizabeth Olsen, a 21 year old senior at NYU's film school, is quickly turning into Sundance's breakout star with two films; a psychological thriller called Martha Macy May Marlene and the much talked about horror Silent House.

You have to respect her for taking this route into acting, when the success of her sisters (whose retail empire Dualstar Entertainment Group sells $1 billion worth of merchandise every year) could have made it much easier for her, but it seems didn't want the path of her more famous twin sisters, who've been in the public eye since they were babies on Full House. When asked why her sisters apparently haven't helped her get into the movie business, she told The Wrap: "If I asked them they would have, but I wanted to do it without asking for the favour."

Other actors who have climbed the Hollywood ladder alone are Haylie Duff, younger sister of The Olsen Twin's fellow child star Hilary (who starred in indie comedy Napolean Dynamite) and of course, Francis Ford Coppola's nephew Nicolas Cage (who changed his name to successfully become a star in his own right). Her independent path to films has worked for her, and her candor and affect have gained comparisons to Maggie Gyllenhaal, rather than her sisters.

Based on a Uruguayan movie of the same name, Silent House (made by filmmakers Chris Kentis and Laura Lau - the team that brought us shark thriller Open Water) is a single camera horror film that follows the terrified, wide-eyed actress around an abandoned summer house.

Olsen is in every shot, since the camera follows her in a single shot throughout the 90 minute film. That, and the intensity of the role, made it very gruelling for her: "By the end of the day you'd have given all you can every time. I had lots and lots of migraines and sinus infections from breathing in snot. It was just really exhausting."

After wanting to act since she was six, Lizzie Olsen is now old enough to be an actress rather than a child star, and has started an already exciting embark on a career on the big screen.
